The Glory Of God

“For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen. .” (Romans 11:36 NIV)

It’s not about us, It’s not about profit or politics or anything else. It’s all about God. We may know that the first sentence of The Purpose Driven Life is “It’s not about us.” What we may not remember is that the title of the first chapter is “It’s All About God.” Those two go together. The reason it’s not about us is because it’s all about God.  Until we understand that, life is never going to make sense. Until we understand that, We are not going to make sense, the goal of our life is not pleasure, it’s not possessions, it’s not prestige, it’s not politics, it’s not power, and it’s not popularity. It’s not anything that the world values. The goal of our life is the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 8:6 saysyet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." (NIV)

What’s the implication of that?  If it’s all about God and it’s not all about us or making money or being popular or any of those other things the world thinks is important, then the implication is that loving God is your first priority. Jesus said it like this: “Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment.”   Matthew 22:37-38 (NIV)   Nothing tops this one, folks! If we miss this, we’ve wasted our life. The most important thing in life is to get to know and love the God who created us. Praise the Lord, God bless
