Into Glory

“Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory.”  Psalm 73:23-24

Asaph was discouraged. Even though he was the leader of one of King David's three Levitical choirs, even though he was serving the Lord, Asaph "envied the arrogant when [he] saw the prosperity of the wicked" (Psalm 73:3). Asaph said, "When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply" (Psalm 73:16). But then he gained an eternal perspective. In contrast to the temporary and ultimately meaningless gains of the "wicked," Asaph noted the godly advantages. Check out four benefits found in today's passage.

"I am always with you." The personal relationship we have with the eternal God is more precious than any earthly possession. Check that--all earthly possessions! The Creator is always with us, living in us. Presence! "You hold me by my right hand." Asaph said, "My feet had almost slipped; I had nearly lost my foothold" (Psalm 73:2). But the Father is there, holding me steady by my right hand with His strong right hand. Security!

"You guide me with your counsel." As we approach forks in the road, He warns us of the dangerous path and guides us along the right way. God's Word is light for the journey. Protection!

And afterward you will take me into glory." I just got back from a Starbucks run with my daughter. She plugged her iPhone into the auxiliary, and we crooned this song about heaven by Trip Lee called Take Me There (Okay, it's a rap, but the words are great). Check out the chorus (you can Google the verses). I just wanna go where, I'm only breathing Your air, Father hear my prayer, Take me there, I just wanna see You, Brighter than I'm used to, Finally see You clear, Take me there, Take me there, Take me there

“Father, thank You that death is only a transition to eternal life. Thank You that one day You will take me into glory where I'm only breathing Your air. Thank You that one day I'll see You brighter. Thank You that one day You will take me there! In Jesus' name. Amen.”
