Honor God With Balance in Your Life:
Beauty

"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight."   1 Peter 3:3-4 (NIV)

It’s tough to be a guy, to learn society’s rules and expectations and achieve respect. It is even harder to be a woman. Our society is merciless with its beauty demands. Every female, already vulnerable to insecurity and self-doubt, is tormented by heavy daily doses of advertising--images of women with perfect skin, nails, and hair, no wrinkles or sags, and perfect figures.

Women are told relentlessly that their worth is bound up in their appearance. And of course since all fail to match up to the magazine models, thousands of cosmetic products (and surgeries) are available to help (and make money for the providers).

God has a different vision. And it’s not that he wants his female temples to be sloppy or unkempt. Here are his words to help you find balance. “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight” (1 Peter 3:3,4).

Will you accept God’s opinion of female beauty? Men, will you prize and praise the beauty of a quiet and gentle spirit in the women in your life? Women, will you cultivate a godly attitude as carefully as you apply your mascara?  God bless
